Over the past few weeks I’ve been doing an initial analysis of Dad’s who have completed the DADvocate survey. There have been 158 dad’s who completed the survey so far. Based on the way I’ve been spreading the word via social media it is not suprising that a large majority of the dad seem to be involved in social media, based on observation not derived from the survey. So I decided to take a look at the data I had and see what could be derived about dads who are active blog readers and have a personal and household income of at least $75,000. This segment of daddy blog readers make up the market of many daddy blogs and I hope the information I provide here will be useful to other daddy bloggers out there who are looking to get sponsorships and are interested in this segmentation of dads.
The first point of interest is that 38% of all survey respondent dads fall into the Blog reading middle class and above market segment. That is a huge number and shows an active daddy blog reading population. Please note I extrapolate that they are daddy blog readers because they took the survey on a daddy blog and because they indicated that they read blogs. This is a logical derivation.
The first question We examined when looking at the data of the group above is how much income the family has vs the individual. 48% of the respondents family income is in the same bracket as their individual income. The remaining 52% of respondents have a family income greater than the individual income.

Now that we have an idea about the income of Daddy blog readers lets look at how much time they spend working on personal finances each month. 55% spend between 1 and 5 hours per month working on finances another 25% spend between 5 and 10 hrs per month.
Looking at this information as a marketer in a financial company I see two points of interest. 1) The time spent on finances is probably well below what it should be. 2) The opportunity to sell is based on informing this group of customers how much time they should be spending and then showing them where and how you as a financial advisor can minimize that time and optimize their financial information.
As we delve further into finances we see that while 18% of Daddy blog readers give less than 1% to charity, 42% give more than 10% to charity.
In next weeks blog we will look at where daddy bloggers spend their time, their religious and political views, what else Daddy blog readers read, the importance of children in their lives and how diet conscious they are.
One last thought for this blog post 90% of the daddy blog readers are Married. Isn’t that just incredible.
